Did you know that the SGC (Superannuation Guarantee Charge) will increase to 12% from 1 July 2025?
The SGC was 9.50% in 2021 and since then has seen a 0.50% each year, which will bring the level to 12.00% from 1 July 2025. There are no further increases legislated from the 12.00% for the years ahead.
The obligation on the employer to pay SGC is restricted to the concessional superannuation cap of $30,000 per annum.
For example, a household with joint PAYG income of $200,000 would see an increase in annual superannuation contributions of $1,000. This change could have a positive effect on the servicing requirements of your client’s SMSF loan, with no impact to their personal position.
